Three Bulldogs earn first team All-Flint Hills League selections

Monday, June 1, 2009

Chase County’s baseball team earned three selections to the All-Flint Hills League team.

Junior pitcher Shawn Talkington, senior first baseman Greg Davis and junior second baseman Johnny Lang were selected as the best in the FHL at their positions. The Bulldogs, who lost to Pittsburg-Colgan on Friday in the first round of the Class 2-1A State tournament at Soden’s Grove, also earned honorable mention selections in outfielder Brandon Line and utility player Jim Lauer, both juniors.

Indians earn five first-teamers

Osage City’s softball team, which lost to Silver Lake last Friday in the Class 3A State tournament in Manhattan, dominated the All-FHL first team, with five Indians earning selections.

Chosen for the first team were sophomore pitcher Carly Spicer, senior first baseman Paige Fort, senior second baseman Kelsey Sturdy, junior shortstop Katie Schroeder and senior outfielder Kady Paul. Two more Indians were chosen as honorable mentions: senior pitcher Hannah Buenger and sophomore third baseman Leah Garland.

Last time I checked there were more than two teams in the league...I think you are doing all the other guys who had great years a disservice by failing to at least mention their names
