THE HUMANE SOCIETY of the Flint Hills will hold their annual “Pets in the Park” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 27 at Hammond Park. Admission is $5 per dog or free to those that have $10 or more in pledges.
Join fellow animal lovers and enjoy a walk (with or without your dog) around the Hammond Park area. Two walks will be available for you to choose from; the two-mile Mutt Strut for active dogs or the one-half mile Poodle Promenade for older or less active dogs. If you cannot walk at the Petwalk, you can still help by sponsoring our mascot.
Bring your dogs, family and friends. Have fun and raise funds to help the Humane Society of the Flint Hills educate the public about the plight of the homeless and abused animals.
Information and pledge forms are available at L & L Pets, the Granada Coffee Company, Amanda’s Bakery and Cafe, Emporia Veterinary Hospital, East Emporia Veterinary Clinic, Dorsey Animal Clinic and the Emporia Animal Shelter or call our office at 342-4477.
We have a fun-filled day planned for you and your pet. Dog contests will be held including doggie limbo, musical chairs, smallest dog, owner/dog look-a-like contest and several more. Activities for the kids, police K9 and dog obedience demonstrations will be given and Jason Henderson will be on hand to do face painting and caricatures of you and your pet. Door prizes! A grand prize will be given to the individual with the most money collected in pledges.
