Late charge makes Argabright a champ

WICHITA — It wasn’t exactly the route Bradley Argabright had hoped to take to win the Class 2A 800 title Saturday at the State Outdoors.
But it worked all the same for the Olpe junior.
Argabright came from 10th place at the midpoint of the race, overtaking the field and then holding off Wathena’s Cody Miller down the stretch. His winning time of 1 minute, 57.96 seconds was nearly a second faster than Miller’s 1:58.84.
“It just happened that I got boxed in on the first lap,” Argabright said. “When I was coming around, I didn’t even know if I could get seventh. But over there, I felt I had enough and I held him off there at the end.”
