David Roland Tollett, 49, of Emporia was taken to Hillsboro Community Medical Center for treatment after the semi-tractor trailer he was driving struck a John Deere tractor on Sunday about 3 miles west of Hillsboro on U.S. Highway 56.
According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Tollett was driving a 2001 Freightliner west on the highway when he started to pass a westbound John Deere Model 4455 tractor.
The tractor, driven by Jason Robert Richmond, 19, of Marion, was turning left off the highway onto Falcon Road when the semi struck the tractor.
The semi came to rest about 200 feet west of the intersection, the KHP report said.
Richmond also was taken to Hillsboro Community Medical Center for treatment.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt, according to the accident report.
