As we wind down the summer term at Community Connections, we would like to offer you a cheap and easy solution to the garden abundance that is soon to come your way. August and September are harvest months, and it won’t be long before you have zucchini coming out your ears – if you don’t already! This month, Tracey Graham of the Emporia Farmers Market will show you how to preserve those great summer flavors so you can save them for those chilly winter months ahead. Learn how to properly freeze, dehydrate, or best yet, can those veggies in mason jars as your grandmother once did. Also keep an eye out for our fall catalogs, which will be hot off the press in the next couple weeks.
Upcoming classes include:
• Harvest Preservation: Canning, Freezing, Dehydrating and Storage for Beginners with Tracey Graham, Monday, Aug. 10, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
• Harvest Preservation Party with Tracey Graham, Saturday, Aug. 29, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Don’t see the class you need? Just give us a call, and we’d be happy to design a course that will help you accomplish your goals. Call Rachael at 341-1372 to get started.
