Highway work approved
The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved bids for two projects in the Emporia area.
King Construction of Hesston was awarded the $1,530,407.27 contract to replace the Eagle Creek bridge on Kansas Highway 99 six miles north of the Greenwood County Line. The Se-Kan Cos. of Gas were awarded the contract to resurface County Route 299 in Greenwood County between Hamilton and Virgil. That contract is for $566,124.76
Budget hearing tonight
The second of three public budget hearings scheduled by the city of Emporia will be at 7 p.m. tonight at Timmerman Elementary School.
Lyon County Commissioners Scott Briggs and Teresa Walters will represent the county at the hearing.
Briggs and Walters will be available to answer questions involving county budget issues, particularly those that relate to responsibilities shared with the city.
Supervisor needed
Abundant Harvest needs another evening meals supervisor for its community food program. The supervisor is responsible for opening the meal site by 5 p.m. and staying for meal and cleanup one day a month. The job takes one and a half to two hours.
