The Olpe Downhome Committee wishes to thank everyone who supported and attended the 2009 Olpe Downhome Festival. We had another successful event thanks to beautiful weather, great public attendance, new activities like the water slide and lawnmower races, and returning activities like the kids fishing derby, fun run, prize drawings, and street dance. With your support, we raised over $3,500 for park improvements.
We want to especially thank The Emporia Gazette, KVOE AM & FM/KFFX FM Radio, Longbine Auto Plaza, Modern Air Conditioning, Dieker Trailer Sales, Olpe State Bank, Highland Ranch Co., Olpe Locker, Wheat State Telephone, PrairieLand Partners, First Start Sales & Service, Kansas Wildlife & Parks – Carson Cox, Camp Alexander, the Emporia Arts Council, the Emporia Zoo Docents, Kansas National Guard, Lyon County Emergency Preparedness, Lyon County Sheriff’s officers, Red Cross disaster personnel, Red Cross Bloodmobile, the bus driver, nurses and Lions Club members who helped with the Lions Club Sight Bus, fun run organizer Tom Camien and his helpers, bike ride organizer Russ Bonitatibus, softball tournament organizer Ryan Gasche, the American Legion members and everyone else who helped in any way to make the day successful.
