Canning, freezing, dehydrating, and storing garden produce for the winter will be the topic of two classes beginning next week at the Flint Hills Vocational College.
Tracey Graham of the Farmers Market will teach harvest preservatation to beginners from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 10. The cost will be $5 and registration is required by Aug. 3. The second session will be a harvest preservation party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 29. The party is for students who completed the first class, as well as for experienced food preservers. The cost is $15.
People who take part in the party may bring their own washed produce, or produce they’ve purchased at the Farmers Market. All preservation supplies will be provided.
Reservations are required by Aug. 21, according to a news release from FHTC.
