OLPE — The face of downtown Olpe will be changing with a new addition to the Olpe Fire Department.
Bob Miller, Olpe fire chief, said the Olpe City Council and the Rural Fire Board have approved an addition to the west end of the fire station at 204 W. Bitler in Olpe. To make way for the new addition, the city bank building will be demolished and a 95 by 50-foot building will be erected in its place. Olpe’s second fire station has been given to city maintenance, which needed a building, Miller said.
A special meeting was held Monday evening to approve a check to the contractor of the addition onto the fire station. The project will be done without raising taxes, Miller said.
The addition is needed to house new, larger trucks as old trucks are replaced.
Miller said groundbreaking should take place in August with completion of the building projected for November.

I visited Olpe this last weekend and I must say it is a quaint Bolivian village. Very nice. Kudos to the residence there.
Sincerely,
