New United Way director hired

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

A native Kansan is returning to the Sunflower State to head United Way of the Flint Hills.

Jami Reever will replace executive director Duane Dreiling, who has taken a job as communications associate with TAMKO Building Products in Joplin, Mo. Dreiling's wife, Lori, relocated to Joplin last September to work for Modine Manufacturing.

Reever is coming to Emporia from western Kansas and will begin with the local United Way in early August, according to Jaryl Perkins, United Way board chairman.

The new director has nearly 15 years of senior-level experience in management and consulting for nonprofit organizations. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from Texas Woman's University in Denton and a master's degree in public administration with a nonprofit oncentration from Seattle University.

Reever and her husband, Kim Simons, are both natives of Hays. They have two children, 5-year-old Ben and 3-year-old Jake. Simons wll be joining the faculty of Emporia State University.

bittersweet;

While we are really glad that "Dewy" found his new job in Joplin, and he can now join Lori, Kate, and Jake in their new hometown, we are saddened by the loss of our friends moving. But then again Joplin is only about 3 hours away, (and close to the casinos), so we will survive.

Congrats to Duane and good luck in your new position.
