Scream for ice cream

Wow! The temperatures this week are really soaring.
So, while it is very steamy outside let’s talk about ice cream.
The first frozen dessert is credited to Emperor Nero of Rome. It was a mixture of snow (which he sent his slaves to the mountains to bring back to the palace) and nectar, fruit pulp and honey. Marco Polo, 13th-century adventurer, brought with him to Europe from the Far East recipes for water ices thought to have been used in Asia for thousands of years. Over time, recipes for ices, sherbets and milk ices evolved and were served in the fashionable Italian and French royal courts.
