Emporia High’s boys swimming team posted 20 best times in finishing third out of four teams at a quad event Thursday at Olathe East.
The Spartans had 233 team points, behind both Olathe East and Shawnee Mission North and ahead of Olathe North. Ryan
Schlup was the only Spartan swimmer to crack the top five in an individual event, earning fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.83 seconds. Derek Krause finished second in diving, collecting 227 points for his work off the board.
Two Spartan relay teams got into the top five in their events. The 200 freestyle team of Cord Stanley, Cody Yevak, Russell Patterson and Dillon Supiran tied Shawnee Mission North for fifth with a time of 1:43.61, and the 400 free relay team of Stanley, Tommy Hudson, Schlup and Supiran finished fifth by clocking 3:52.14.
