No more tattoos!

I was totally shocked at Monday’s afternoon paper over tattoos.
The picture of the lady’s back half of her body was very classy — “Good job, Larry.”
If I want me and my kids to see that, I will buy an adult magazine.
I can’t believe that the editor of this paper didn’t find anything wrong with this picture. Do I have to have my paper screened before my kids look at it?

People in this world can be so close minded. This isn't the first time the Gazette has published pictures of tattoos. Really what is the big deal, its art that someone has chosen to put on there body for display virsus on their wall. Besides Crackinsack is right on the money when he/she said that you shouldn't take your children to the pool because they might see more than just some ladies back. I feel sorry for you because sheltering your children are just going to make them more curious the second you have your back is turned. And if you don't believe me, boy do you have some surprises coming in your near future.

I know Ron and I know his children aren't "sheltered." However, they are taught to respect themselves and others--including viewing disrespectful photos. I did see the photo and was very shocked at first, but when I looked a bit closer at the actual tattoo, I realized I wasn't seeing what I thought I was seeing. The curvature of the young lady's hip from her posture and the camera angle made it look as though she was completely unclothed from the back. What appeared at first glance to be the chair seat turned out to be the top edge of her jeans, but the photo was cut off just under that line. Knowing Ron, he did not examine the photo closely enough to determine that as doing so may have compromised his ethics. You two are very closed-minded yourselves about people who might have a more structured value-system than your own.

Mr Hastings: Sounds like you need to venture out of your shell. I would be curious to know how old your children are. And yes, God forbid they ever see somebody's back.

Ron said, "the lady’s back half of her body...." indicating he thought (much like I did at first) there was more displayed than just a back--like what's at the bottom of a back. And if he was correct, he was right to let the paper know it was inappropriate for young eyes to see lying next to Daddy's chair. I'm sure the photo looked different in color, not on newspaper, but it didn't print well. I'm sure there were many other citizens who also mis-saw it and agree with him. The Gazette now has two options--address it and clarify it for readers or let it drop. I'm sure that will depend on how much feedback they get--including Ron's.
Oh, and the Gazette did choose to print it, so he must not have done something THAT wrong in writing to them.

"Yeah, I need a more "structured value-system" because I don't write a letter to the editor every time I see a woman's back. Where did I go astray? Heaven help me!"
No, indeed...Crack just obsessively haunts the blogs, stirring up whatever muck and mire possible...it is always easier to tear down someones beliefs or opinions than it is to actually THINK for oneself. If you don't like someone's point of view, ATTACK...whether its any of your business or not. Most thinking people learn early on that their opinions may not mirror those of everyone else and we learn to adapt and live with it in an effort to get along and to expand our own horizons.
Others just blather.
So old Crack-Head, lets see if you can stir it up enough that the page is closed before someone else can offer an opinion different than yours...

Get over it. Your kids can surely read. Some of things printed in the paper are descriptive of far more disgusting, sinister, and suggestive things than a photograph of a tattoo.

The writer missed a good chance to show his kids that they have only one body, and should warn them they must live with the results from then on. Sometimes what we see as disgusting gives us a chance in a decent setting to use for a learning experience. The picture was not over the line, nor was it offensive.

Very well said wirewatt even if I didnt see the photo either.
Tattoos are very in right now so I can see the interest. But its no different that we all have our own interests. Just because it isnt interesting to the entire subscribers of the Gazette doesnt make it a interest to some. The Gazette has to try and reach all different ranges of people and whats important or interesting. If they didnt, how would they keep them coming back??
