The Emporia State baseball team received two first-place votes in the MIAA preseason coaches poll and were picked to finish second.
Central Missouri received nine first-place votes and had 99 out of a possible 100 points in the poll; the Hornets had 92 points, 14 ahead of third place Nebraska-Omaha.
Emporia State returns two starting pitchers and four starters in the field from last season’s 50-win team. The Hornets are ranked eighth in the preseason Division II coaches poll.
