ESU delivers 2nd-half knockout

Thursday, January 29, 2009

ST. JOSEPH, MO. — For the second straight game, Emporia State waited until the beginning of the second half to deliver the knockout punch.

Of course, a knockout insinuates quick and painful, and Wednesday’s blow to Missouri Western was more drawn-out torture.

The Griffons opened the second half by missing 13 straight shots in a scoreless first 7 minutes, 50 seconds, and what had to be a satisfying first half for Missouri Western turned into another easy win for Emporia State, 89-70.

The win was anything but satisfying for ESU coach Brandon Schneider and his Lady Hornets.

For the second straight game, they let an inferior opponent hang around and score too easily in the first half. Missouri Western (2-16, 2-10) led for most of the first half, and Emporia State led by only two at half, 42-40, which drew the ire of Schneider.

Once again, if you are going to direct people who have paid for their subscription (but like to read it on-line before the kids get ahold of it at home) to the pdf version, please have that on-line before you post the teaser. It's really frustrating. :[

This is getting ridiculous. I'm posting this at 1:10 on Friday afternoon and Thursday's pdf paper still isn't on-line, yet you are asking us to see the online print edition for a game that was played on Wednesday. Is there a reason the pdf version isn't up?
