ESU women win 6th straight at Missouri Western

Final

The Emporia State women opened the second half on a 14-0 run, pushing a two-point halftime lead to 16 at Missouri Western. The Lady Hornets rolled from there to their sixth straight win, 89-70.

Andrea Leiker, Cassondra Boston and Ida Edwards all scored 16 points. Edwards had a game-high 13 rebounds.

Allie Renberg had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Half

Emporia State trailed Missouri Western for most of the first half, but the Lady Hornets lead 42-40 at half.

Cassondra Boston and Andrea Leiker both have hit two 3-pointers and have 10 points each.

The Griffons shot 50 percent in the first half, and the Lady Hornets were able to stay in the game by making 6-of-10 3-pointers.

Emporia State took its first lead with 1:19 left on a jumper by Leiker. After Western took back the lead on a Tierra Ford putback, Leiker answered with a 3-pointer for the half’s final basket.

Boston and Sophia Lenard both have three fouls. Lenard’s second foul came on a double-technical at the 4:43 mark when and she and Ford wrestled for a ball and then Ford shoved the ball in her chest.
