Spartans finish in 4th place at Ralph Miller Classic

The Emporia High boys weren’t able to salvage third place at the Ralph Miller Classic on Saturday, but they did salvage the good graces of their coach.
The Spartans dropped a 53-49 decision to Olathe North in the tournament’s third-place game at Chanute, putting up a better effort than they showed in their 56-46 semifinal loss to Andover Central the day before. Coach Rick Bloomquist said the Spartans showed great improvement from Friday’s game, when they insisted on settling for threes instead of attacking the basket.
