RICHARD GARBER, who completed his term as chairman of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. Joel Phipps is the new chairman.
• Elvin Perkins, who received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. The Sweet Granada received the business of the year award.
• Michael Nulton, who accepted the position as the superintendent of North Lyon County. Nulton will replace Steve Mollach.
• Chase County High School teacher Linda Drake, who received the National Yearbook Advisor of the Year award from the Journalism Education Association.
• James Roberts, who converted his bar, Bamboozers, into a new restaurant called Wings and Things. The business is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
• Emporia High School wrestlers, who placed first at the Newton Invitational.
• Jade Gaskill and Jacob Torres, who were crowned Emporia High’s Winter Sports King and Queen.
