It was a light agenda Thursday orning for Lyon County commissioners as only one other item was on the agenda besides consent items.
In the meeting, commissioners approved a supplemental agreement to contract for engineering services for additional engineering and surveying for the economic development grant at U.S. Highway 50 and Road F. The board also approved an additional $18,863.25 for consultant services and $1,306 additional net fee.
During Wednesday’s meeting, County Engineer Chip Woods said the project is for acceleration and deceleration lanes in front of the PrairieLand Partners implement dealership. The Kansas Department of Transportation has changed the requirements for the project and a supplemental agreement must be signed.
Items on the consent agenda:
• Authorized chairman to sign letter of support for Hetlinger Developmental Services for their bid to acquire grant funds.
• Accepted fair board appointment recommendations for the term expiring Dec. 31, 2011. These are: Don Roberts, Gene Jackson, Raymond Morris, Larry Browning, Larry Milroy, Chris Phillips, Dan Hamman, Devlon Moore and Carl Wingert.
• Approved Don Anderson as the Lyon County representative to the Metropolitan Planning and Appeals Board.
• Approved Amy Becker as the Lyon County representative to the Natural Resource Advisory Board.
• Approved equipment, operators, supervisors and appropriate staff attending the Excavation Safety Program on Jan. 27 at the Emporia American Legion.
• Approved Assistant County Engineer James Brull to attend the Stream Obstructions Seminar on Feb. 11 in Lawrence.
• Approved sending out the request for proposals for the 2009 bridge inspection.
• Approved the Sheriff’s Office to appropriate an additional $1,800 for ICOP unit and pay for it from the forfeiture fund. The ICOP unit is digital surveillance equipment that allows the deputies to record their interactions with the public.
• Approved the 2009 vehicle plan for the Sheriff’s Office.
