Busy weekend

Events scheduled in Emporia this weekend include:
• The first of three Eggs & Issues forums will be held Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Lee Beran Recreation Center, 313 W. Fourth Ave. Area legislators will speak and answer questions from the audience. Coffee and rolls will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
• Violinist James Starr will perform the final solo recital of his career at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Heath Recital Hall at Beach Music Hall on the ESU campus. Starr’s son, Jeremy, will also perform. There is a charge, with proceeds to be used for scholarships. A reception will be given by the Starr family after the recital. General admission is $5; students and senior citizens, $4. • Youths in grades K-12 are invited to the Winter Wonderland Dad & Daughter Dance, 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Church Parish Hall. Dress up in your favorite outfit and have a night out with dad (or other adult family member.) There will be games and refreshments, and pictures will be taken. $15 per couple, $5 for additional daughters. Call 342-4532.
• The annual Flint Hills Shootout will finish up Saturday with games starting at 9 a.m. and continuing into the evening at W.L. White Auditorium, 111 E. Sixth Ave. Girls games will be at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Boys games will be at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
