HAYS — After Emporia State went up 23 in the second half on Wednesday at Fort Hays State, ESU coach Brandon Schneider yelled from the sideline, “Let’s go!”
Since 2009 began, the Lady Hornets have made a habit of building double-digit leads and then letting their opponents back in the game, making things interesting. That even resulted in a loss at home to Southwest Baptist.
So on Wednesday, Schneider and the fifth-ranked Lady Hornets made a point to not have a letdown, and instead they delivered a 90-51 beatdown.
“I think that kind of shows how much our team has grown in the past four or five games,” ESU senior guard Andrea Leiker said. “I think we’ve become a much tougher team to play against and that’s just one of the main reasons why that’s hopefully not going to happen again.”
