A basic beekeeping class will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 24) at the Coffey County Public Library in Burlington. It will cover “A Year in the Life of an Apiary,” discussing getting a hive started, extracting honey, wintering bees, etc. Equipment needed for beekeeping and how to acquire bees will also be covered. This class will be useful for anyone interested in getting started in beekeeping or for those who already have a few hives. There is no charge for the class and a light lunch will be provided.
