Madison was able to withstand a late charge by Hartford to pull out a 52-49 win on Friday.
Henry Ott scored a game-high 19 points and was joined in double figures by Michael Luthi, who scored 15 points. The Jaguars were led by Craig Woods’ 15 points, and he was joined in double figures by Joe Gilligan, who scored 14.
Madison improved to 4-2 in the Lyon County League and 5-4 overall, and the Bulldogs will face Waverly next Tuesday.
Hartford, now 3-3 in league play and 5-4 overall, will face Marais des Cygnes Valley on Tuesday.
“This game was deja vu. We had a 10-point lead late against Hartford early in the season and we let things slip away,” Madison coach Alan Brown said. “But tonight the young men came out and closed things out. We made the clock our friend late, when things seemed like they were slipping away. Henry Ott is a competitor. At the end of the game, we wanted the ball in his hands because he is our best free throw shooter.”
