ESU men rally from 15 down to beat Washburn

Final
Emporia State withstood a 14-0 Washburn run to start the second half and came back from 15 to win 85-75 on Saturday at White Auditorium.
Robert Moores hit the go-ahead 3-pointer to give the Hornets a 72-71 lead with 2:56 left. Jeremiah Box followed with a 3-pointer and a steal and layup, and the Hornets made four straight free throws to finish off an 11-0 run and take a 10-point lead.
Emporia State outscored Washburn 42-17 in the last 15:27.
Dustin Andrews led the Hornets with a career-high 19 points, and Lamar Wilbern scored 18 and had a team-high seven rebounds. Robert Moores added 15 points, Box scored 13 and Adam Holthaus had 10 points.
Emporia State improved to 13-3 overall and 7-2 in the MIAA and remain tied for first place with Southwest Baptist.

Emporia State and Washburn had six lead changes and three ties, and they’re all square at halftime, 41-41.
Washburn’s DeAndre Eggins hit a runner with two seconds left in the first half to tie the game.
ESU’s Dustin Andrews leads the Hornets with a career-high 14 points and has made 4-of-6 3-pointers. Eggins leads the Ichabods with 14 points
Lamar Wilbern added 12 points and made all three of his 3-point attempts. Both teams made seven 3-pointers in the first half.
