With two new members at the helm, Lyon County commissioners re-organized the Lyon County Commission and approved position assignments in the county.
Scott Briggs will continue to serve as commission chairman this year and Rollie Martin will serve as vice-chair. Following reorganization, commissioners approved various position assignments in the county and appointed the Emporia Gazette as the county’s official newspaper and Emporia’s Radio Stations as the official radio station of Lyon County.
In other business, Lyon County got a check for more than $6,000 from KCAMP. The county participates in a risk management program that allows them to get two percent of their premium back. Brandon Mann, the risk manager for KCAMP, gave commissioners a check for their participation on the silver level of the program.
Items on the consent agenda commissioners:
• Approved warrants payable in the amount of $163,385.08.
• Accepted the Agnes City Township Report.
• Authorized the chairman to sign a letter of support of the Kansas Department of Transportation grant application.
• Authorized the commission to sign four copies of a utility agreement with Coffey County Rural Water District, the bridge replacement over Coal Creek on Road 130.
• Approved the low bid of Welborn Sales for wood sign posts as specified for an estimated total of $5,062.72.
• Approved the estimate of $10,000 from Master’s Mechanic to do an inframe engine overhaul on D-40, a 1992 International Semi-Tractor from the road and bridge fund.
