Business course, scholarships announced

Flint Hills Technical College has once again partnered with Emporia Main Street and the Kansas Small Business Development Center to offer the Starting Your Own Business Course. The course is a comprehensive training program for potential and current small business owners who bring talent and opportunity to the business community. The class will be offered on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and running from Feb. 26 through April 23. For more information, or to enroll, call 620-341-1392 or email abecker@fhtc.edu.
Flint Hills Youth Charitable Foundation makes scholarship contribution
The Flint Hills Youth Charitable Foundation has made a contribution of $25,000 to the FHTC Foundation which will provide scholarships for traditional age students from Chase, Coffey Greenwood and Lyon Counties. $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually to students meeting minimum GPA criteria and enrollment guidelines. “With the increasing importance of scholarship dollars, this gift will further enhance the scholarship opportunities available to our students. We are very appreciative of this very generous gift from the Flint Hills Youth Charitable Foundation,” stated Jodi Heermann, executive director of advancement at Flint Hills Technical College.
Three Capitol Federal Scholarships awarded
The FHTC Foundation is proud to announce the 2008-09 Capitol Federal Scholarship recipients. Judie Koesybounheung, Business Administrative Technology; John Linde, Computer Program Design and Development; and Maria Villegas, Business Administrative Technology were awarded scholarships for the spring semester. In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Capitol Federal Savings Bank in Emporia, the Capitol Federal Foundation established the Capitol Federal Scholarship at FHTC. Preference was given to students pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Degree in one of the programs of study within the Division of Information Technology. “These students exemplify the characteristics of academic excellence and diligence that will make them very successful in their chosen career areas,” according to Jodi Heermann, executive director of advancement.
