A fund for Delbert and Ethel Swift has been established at the KansasLand Bank, 702 Main St., Americus.

Monetary contributions are welcome and checks should be made out to Swifts’ Fire Fund. The Swifts’ house was totally dstroyed by fire on Christmas morning.

More information will be available soon concerning a raffle with the proceeds going to the Swifts’ Fire Fund.

For information, Melba Roswurm (620) 443-5570.

Power association

The annual dinner and meeting of the Flint Hills Antique Power Association will be at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Masonic Lodge basement.

Members are asked to bring two dishes filled with food to the potluck dinner. Rob Gordon will provide barbecued brisket, pork and beef.  Richard Garber of PrairieLand Partners will be the guest speaker, after which the outstanding member of the year will be announced, prizes will be awarded and new officers will be announced.

The club takes part in tractor pulls, plow days, parades and shows at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.

A celebrity challenge between KVOE and The Emporia Gazette looks like this after three tractor pulls:

- Lyon County Fair 2006 — Brandy Nance, Gazette, lost to Chuck Samples, KVOE

- Americus Days 2006 — Bobbi Mlynar, Gazette, beat Jeff O’Dell, KVOE

- Lyon County Fair 2007, Michael Ashford, Gazette, lost to Greg Rahe, KVOE.

As the record stands, KVOE 2, Gazette 1.

Donations from the club have been made to The Salvation Army and the Lyon County 4-H Tractor Safety program. As part of a cancer awareness project, an old tractor is being painted pink and will be driven in area parades when the job is completed.

For information, Elton Jensen, President, (620) 343-0416.
