Osage City and Council Grove entered Monday’s makeup game as the lone undefeated teams left in the Flint Hills League.
For a battle of the unbeaten, it wasn’t pretty, but Osage City won with defense, 48-40.
The Indians forced 34 turnovers, while committing 20 turnovers.
“Offensively, we really, really struggled big time,” Osage City coach Dennis Fort said. “We just couldn’t seem to get a rhythm and couldn’t find anybody to hit any shots, but the saving grace was I think we played really solid defense. It’s about as well defensively as we’ve played all year.”
Josh Carson and James Schwieger led the Braves with 10 points and Tyler Bartee added nine points.
For the Braves, Sean Carr scored a game-high 13 and Derek Ziegenhirt had 10 points.
Osage City improved to 5-0 in the league, and Council Grove dropped to 4-1. Council Grove hosts Northern Heights tonight. The Wildcats and Braves are tied for second place in the league.
