Gridley
The Coffey County Republican reported that Southern Coffey County Middle School students were moved to temporary classrooms recently because their school was damaged in the Dec. 27 storms. The damage to the school is estimated at $226,100. Seventy-seven students in grades five through eight were moved to temporary classrooms while repairs are being done to the school. Some of the students will go to Gridley Elementary School and others will attend classes in the basement of First Christian Church in Gridley.
Morris County
The Council Grove Republican reported that Morris County has been awarded a $22,500 FEMA grant to develop and write a Mitigation Plan. E-FM Consulting, of Lawrence, will write the plan for a cost of $29,394. The State Emergency Management Agency will pay the amount not covered under the $22,500-grant.

The Council Grove Republican reported that the 69th annual meeting of the Morris County Conservation District will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Morris County Fairgrounds. The public is welcome to attend. Meal tickets may be purchased at several the USDA Service Center, Emprise Bank, Farmers & Drovers Bank, all of Council Grove; Central National Bank in White City and Herington; Farmers State Bank in Dwight; Alta Vista State Bank; Burdick Oil, Feed & Fertilizer, Citizen’s State Bank in Woodbine; and Pilsen State Bank in Lincolnville.
