Boston hits game-winner at Pitt State

Cassondra Boston made a game-winning layup with 2.5 second left to give Emporia State a 78-76 win at Pittsburg State.
Boston scored 12 points after being held scoreless in the first half. Ida Edwards led the Lady Hornets with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Sophia Lenard added 14 points and a team-high four assists.
The Lady Hornets rallied from four points down in the final minute. Boston hit a 17 footer to close to within two, and Edwards had a putback to tie the game with 34.9 seconds left.
Pitt State tried to hold for the final shot and Bailey Waugh missed a 3-pointer from the corner with about nine seconds left. Edwards came down with the rebound and passed to Boston, who drove the length of the court for the game-winning layup.
Emporia State led by as many as 20 in the first half and led until Laura Glenn gave the Gorillas a 74-72 lead with 1:59 left.
With the win, Emporia State moved into sole possession of first place in the MIAA because of a Washburn loss at Missouri Southern.

Emporia State jumped out to a 8-0 lead against Pittsburg State and lead 43-32 at half.
Ida Edwards has 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Hornets. Edwards is a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and 1-for-1 at the line.
Sophia Lenard has nine points and a game-high four assists. She also has two blocks and a steal.
Nicole McCombs leads Pitt State with 14 points.
