The Kansas Highway 130 bridge over the Neosho River near Hartford will close Wednesday morning and be closed for about six days. The bridge closure will cause a 47-mile detour.
Weather permitting, construction will start on Wednesday for concrete replacement on the bridge deck of the Neosho River Bridge. Kansas highway 130 will close after the morning school bus runs.
There will be a marked detour. Traffic will be directed south out of Hartford on the Olpe/Hartford Road, then north on Kansas highway 99 to Interstate 35, east on I-35 to exit 141 then south on K-130.
During construction on the bridge, K-130 traffic will be restricted to one 12-foot lane through the work zone. Traffic will be directed by signals.
Construction on the bridge replacement began in Feb. 2007. Work has been delayed several times due to weather, including high water levels on the Neosho River. A M Cohron & Son Inc. is the primary contractor for the project, with a cost of $4.4 million.
