Meeting open
Anyone interested in old tractors and other related equipment is eligible to attend the annual dinner meeting of the Flint Hills Antique Power Association, according to the organization’s president, Elton Jensen.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17, in the basement of the Masonic Lodge. Richard Garber, of PrairieLand Partners, will be guest speaker, officers will be elected and a prize drawing will be held.
More information, and reservations for the dinner, may be had by calling Jensen at 343-0416.
In addition to tractor pulls, parades, and other activities related to the focus equipment, the group also donates to the Lyon County 4-H tractor safety program, collects food for the Salvation Army, and currently is having an old tractor painted purple as part of a cancer awareness project.
Spay and neuter discount
The Humane Society of the Flint Hills again will offer a $10 discount to pet owners who spay or neuter their cats and dogs in February.
The Society uses a theme: “See Your Vet — Fix Your Pet” in the promotions.
There is a limit of two pets per household, and the discount is available to pet owners in Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties.
For more information call 342-4477 or, outside the Emporia area, call toll-free at (866) 342-4477.
