A HEARTFELT thank-you to The Emporia Gazette and the Emporia area community for all the support shown to Winding Road Equine Rescue & Retirement and to the rescue of an extraordinary Thoroughbred stallion, Clever Allemont. Thank you for the donations, the well wishes and sharing this incredible story.
We returned from Kentucky last night, after having transported Clever Allemont to his retirement home at Old Friends. It’s place unlike any other and I was able to see all of the untapped potential here at Winding Road. There is so much yet to be done! I invite anyone who loves horses to get involved, join up with us. There are so many levels in which that can be done, as each of us have our own gifts to contribute. It’s extremely rewarding and it has the power to change lives, equine and human alike.
I was very touched by the outpouring of donations in response to Jan McClendon’s letter that insured we secured the $250 matching grant. We exceeded that, but beyond the financial boost that provided, it was very affirming to see so many people in our community believe in what we do and are willing to make sure we can continue. I want to thank the anonymous donors whe sent cash in varying amounts, particularly one who contributed in memory of a pony named Ruby. We will name one of the new ones after your beloved girl.
Thank you to everyone, so much. On behalf of all the horses. may the happiest and most blessed of new years be in store for you.
