Final
Cassondra Boston scored a season-high 26 points, including 19 in the second half, to lead Emporia State to a 83-70 victory.
The Lady Hornets trailed by three at halftime because of 14 turnovers and possibly a carryover from the offensive struggles they’d had in the first half of Saturday’s loss to Southwest Baptist.
Emporia State bounced back in the second half, starting on a 7-3 run to take the lead. The Lady Hornets scored 56 points in the second half, limiting their turnovers to three and shooting 61.5 percent from the field. They also improved from the line, making 20-of-24 free throws in the second half.
Sophia Lenard scored 17 points, including 11 in the first half. Ida Edwards had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Allie Renberg added eight points, including six straight points down the stretch.
The Lady Hornets improve to 6-1 in the MIAA and 12-2 overall. They also avoided back-to-back home loses, which would have been a first under coach Brandon Schneider.

Half
The Emporia State women trail Missouri Southern 30-27 at the end of the first half.
The Lady Hornets have held the Lions to 21.1 percent shooting, but trail because of their inability to take care of the ball. They have 14 turnovers, including eight that have come on traveling calls. The Lions have only six turnovers.
Emporia State has also struggled at the line, making only 7-of-14 free throws, compared to 10-of-12 for the Lions.
Sophia Lenard has kept ESU in the game, scoring 11 points to go along with three rebounds and a steal. Ida Edwards has seven points and a game-high four blocks.
