Shiloh Home

Friday, January 2, 2009

The Shiloh Home of Hope for Women will host a special event on Jan. 9 to benefit the home.

Shiloh, 605 Congress St., opened in April 2008 to provide a residential setting for unwed mothers who need help while they are learning to be parents and to become self-sufficient.

Cindy Rhudy, director of Shiloh, said Robyn Meahl, a concert pianist, will perform at the event, which will be held at 7 p.m. Jan, 9 at Victory Fellowship Church on Americus Road. Meahl will be playing on a grand piano.

A special guest will speak to attendees. The guest is one of the women who lived at Shiloh. She will tell of her experiences. Young women at Shiloh receive life-skills lessons, classes, and counseling during their time there. Sponsors plan to help them become qualified for employment and teach them how to choose clothing for interviews and careers, how to present themselves, how to be effective parents, and other skills they may not have learned, including how to develop a good self-image.

Dessert will be served after the program. The event is free, but donations will be accepted. Reservations must be made by Wednesday. Call 342-2244 for more information and to reserve seats.
