To the very special and caring citizens of Emporia , Kansas
Both my wife and I wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the many persons who assisted us after the accident at the intersection of 15th and Stanton at approximately 4 p.m. on November 26th. I was driving east on 15th street when a vehicle traveling west on the same street made an illegal left turn directly in front of me, causing my car to crash into the turning car. The impact caused both airbags in my 2008 Chrysler, Town and Country Limited to deploy. I was in shock but unhurt. My vision of the immediate vicinity was obstructed by the inflated airbags. I was, however, aware of a large number of people around the area of the accident. One kind lady assisted me in exiting my vehicle, inquiring if I were injured (I was not, thanks to the airbags) and immediately informed me that the other vehicle had left the scene of the accident. My wife, thank God, was shopping at the Mall and missed all the excitement until one very helpful couple found her at Hallmark’s and brought her back to where I was. One of the witnesses followed the other car to the mall while several others called 911. Within minutes, the police apprehended and arrested the intoxicated driver of the other car. One witness remarked that she had never seen so many concerned and helpful persons at the scene of an accident. This is one more example testifying to the wonderfully caring citizens of Emporia, Kansas .
