Boston’s baskets right on time for ESU
Friday, January 2, 2009
Cassondra Boston was the smallest player on the court Wednesday night at White Auditorium, but she made the biggest shots.
Boston made three timely baskets to lead the Lady Hornets to a 85-67 win over Nebraska-Omaha. Her first timely basket came from the back of the power E at midcourt, a buzzer-beater to end the first half that traveled approximately 65 feet before falling straight through the hoop to give the Lady Hornets an insurmountable 18-point lead at halftime.
“I just threw it up there,” Boston said. “I didn’t know if it was going in. There were defenders coming at me and I just threw it up high and somehow it went in.”
Ida Edwards was right behind Boston and she could see that the shot was on line, but...
“I told her at halftime I didn’t think she could make it reach,” Edwards said.
“Based on her performance in the weight room,” coach Brandon Schneider added, “I’m surprised she got it there.”
