Students compete at State, qualify for National

Students from Flint Hills Technical College attended the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Wichita last week.
Students placing in a variety of categories included:
• Ana Herrera, Emporia, business administrative technology — fifth place Fundamental Spreadsheet Application and Top 5 Insurance Concepts
• Mayra Lemus, Emporia, business administrative technology — second place Integrated Office Applications
• Cody Dedmon, Olpe, computer program design and development — first place Fundamentals of XHTML and first place in VB.NET Programming
• Dustin Mitchell, Emporia, computer program design and development — first place C++ Programming and first place in Java Programming
• Steve Stone, Madison, network technology — fourth place Microsoft Network Administration, second place Extemporaneous Speech, and second place Prepared Speech
• Deanna Harkins, Osage City, business administrative technology — third place Interview Skills
• Anna Clements, Emporia, business administrative technology — fifth place
The following students will be going to the National Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas from May 6 to 10 — Herrera, Lemus, Mitchell, Dedmon and Harkins. Business Professionals of America is a national co-curricular career and technical organization for high school, college and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology.
