Scholarship opportunities continue to grow at Flint Hills Technical College with the establishment of two new scholarships available beginning in the fall of 2009.
The Industrial Engineering Technology Scholarship has been established by Tom and Jackie Stebbins. As a member of the Industrial Engineering Technology Program Advisory Committee and maintenance manager at Menu Foods Midwest in Emporia, Tom Stebbins knows firsthand the importance of a skilled workforce ready to meet the needs of local industry.
Beginning with the 2009-10 academic year, two scholarships will be awarded annually. To be considered for the scholarship, students must meet and maintainaminimum 3.0 GPA, have completed a technical certificate and be enrolled as an associate of applied science degree-seeking student.
The Emporia State Federal Credit Union has also established a scholarship at FHTC. To be considered for the scholarship, students may be enrolled either as a first year student or have completed a technical certificate and pursuing their AAS, as well as meet and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA.
Originally known as the Emporia Consumers Federal Credit Union, the financial institution was granted a charter to serve a “field of membership” in July 1937 under the provisions of an act established by the 73rd Congress. Since that time, the credit union has continued to grow and flourish as a member-owned credit union open to those affiliated with ESU, surrounding school districts and most recently in January, employees and students attending Flint Hills Technical College.
