Friday Thoughts is a light-hearted commentary.
AFTER MARRYING Ashley, I suddenly had many projects that needed attention around the house. On a few occasions to help complete my tasks, I have had to invoke a son-in-law’s privilege and borrow some tools from my father-in-law, Dr. Steve Knecht.
From chainsaws, ladders, tillers, seeders, lawnmowers and tile cutters to miter saws, metal saws, wrenches, sanders, clamps, rulers and sandblasters, the tool lending library has saved me a few dollars over the years, as well as helped me complete my tasks.
About six months ago, I borrowed a chain saw. Last weekend, I fired it up to cut some trees down on my pond dam. The chain saw kept bogging down so I couldn’t finish the job. I thought, you know, it was probably about time to return the borrowed saw.
My father-in-law was kind enough to get his chain saw running properly again and then he let me know there was a $40 fee. I wonder if the repair bill included a family discount?
