EHS boys bowlers finish second
Emporia High’s boys bowling team finished in second place and the girls finished in third on Wednesday in Topeka, the Spartans’ final tournament before they host Regionals on Saturday.
Justin Wilson finished in fourth place overall, leading the EHS boys with a 622 series and earning a medal. For the girls, medals went to Caitlin Martin for her 536 series and seventh-place finish and to Morgan Michels for finishing eighth with a 529 series. As a team, the Spartan boys had 2,329 points, behind Seaman’s 2,664. The EHS girls had 2,033 points; Shawnee Heights won with 2,328.
Both Seaman and Shawnee Heights will be in Emporia’s Regional on Saturday morning at Flint Hills Lanes.
“Seaman (boys) will be considered the favorite at the Regional,” EHS coach Rick Carl said, “but if we bowl like we have in the past, we have a real shot at beating them.”
