Fish at Didde

The Didde Catholic Campus Center, 1415 Merchant St., will serve the annual Fish Fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Center. The menu features Seafood Sampler (fish, popcorn shrimp and choice of Creole or Corviche (shrimp salad) for $8; Corviche Dinner (shrimp, crab, cucumbers, clamato and onions served with tostadas and salsa), $7; Shrimp Creole Dinner (shrimp, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and celery served over rice), $7; Fish Dinner, $7 or $5 for student with identification, (includes hush puppies, potato salad, coleslaw, green beans, bread dessert, beverage). Cheese pizza or choice of dinner is $3 for children under 10 years. This is a student sponsored fundraiser to help finance scholarships and activities. For more information, call 343-6765.

Biscuits & gravy at Messiah

Messiah Lutheran Church, 1101 Neosho St., is having a “Come and Get It!” biscuits and gravy and pancake feed from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday in Fellowship Hall. The meal includes pancakes, sausage links, sausage gravy and juice, coffee or milk at a cost of $4 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Carry-out also will be available. Proceeds will be used to benefit the Lutheran Laymen’s League Kansas District Project including the Orphan Grain Train, Bible correspondence and scholarships.

Pancakes in Rapids

Neosho Rapids Community Projects will have an “all you can eat” pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Neosho Rapids Community Center. The breakfast includes pancakes (all one can eat), sausage and beverage for $4. The cost is $2.50 for children 10 and under. Proceeds will be used for new playground equipment for the Neosho Rapids Jones Park.

Beef & noodles in Hartford

St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Hartford will served the annual Beef and Noodle Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Neosho Rapids Grade School multipurpose room in Neosho Rapids. The meal includes homemade beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, dessert and beverage. The price is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. For an extra $1 donation, your name will be put into a drawing for prizes plus one-half beef. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Teachers at McDonald’s

McDonald’s at 18th Ave. and Industrial Road will be host for a “McTeacher’s Night” between 4 and 8 p.m. Tuesday to help Lowther North and Lowther South schools. Proceeds from sales will be used to help with the two schools’ education budgets. This will be the first of two McTeacher’s Nights in 2009. The franchisee owners and operators of the Emporia and Matfield Green restaurants are Craig and Kay Shandler of Emporia. More than 200 McDonald’s restaurants in northeast Kansas are taking part in this fundraising event.
