Emporia High School wrestling fans saw 13 Spartan wrestlers qualify for State on Saturday at EHS, when the Spartans easily won their Class 5A Regional.
According to available historic information on the Emporia wrestling Web site, EHS has sent that many wrestlers to State just once before — in 1991, when the Spartans placed fourth at State. Five EHS teams have sent 12 wrestlers to State, with two of those squads winning titles. The last Emporia team to win a State title, the 2000 squad, had just seven State qualifiers.
