FLINT HILLS Technical College, which donated land to the Local Food Group for a community garden. The Local Food Group wants to bring more local, fresh, organic foods to area consumers.
• Tanner Clark, whose glass-blown art pieces were winners in the NICHE Awards. His piece titled “Ampolina/Mezzo Stampo Goblets won in the Functional Glass category and his piece “Gas Mask” was a finalist in the Structural Category.
• Justin David Wilson, who will receive his Eagle Scout award on Sunday. His Eagle project was designing, raising money and building a sandbox gazebo for preschool children at ESU Center for Early Childhood Development.
• EHS wrestlers, who won the Centennial League meet in Topeka. This was the Spartans’ second league title in three years and the 25th in the past 28 season.
• Linda Bell and Crystal Cooper, who were grand prize winners in the “Keno Madness” drawing. They each won $5,000 and a trip for two to the Division I men’s national college basketball championship.
• Emporia State University, which donated 300 books to help stock the shelves of Lowther North and South intermediate schools.
• Taylor Euler, who was recognized as a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
• Cleo and Ruth Jacob, who were crowned King and Queen of Holiday Resort.
