New Marine

Pfc. Brian M. Dall of Emporia graduated Jan. 16 from U.S. Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit San Diego. Dall completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 88 recruits in Training Platoon 1047. He was selected for the Permissive Recruiter Assistance Support Program in which he spent an additional five days in Emporia assisting the recruiters. After 10 days of home leave, he will report to Camp Pendleton for one month at military combat training, the military occupation specialty school, combat equipment operator. Dall attended Hartford High School. He is the son of Troy and Kandy Dall of Emporia and Angela Woods of Lawrence. Grandparents are Gary and Ruth Dall, Harry Veatch and Jim and Sharon Woods, all of Emporia.

Completes boot camp

Amanda L. Crow of Burlingame graduated Jan. 23 from the U.S. Navy boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. Crow completed nine weeks of intensive basic training at Recruit Training Command in Division 074 Ship 05. She was appointed as section leader in charge of 12 other recruits. Upon graduation, Crow shipped out to Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida for aviation training at the Naval Air Technical Training Center. Crow graduated from Burlingame High School. She is the daughter of Wendy and Nick Hinck of Burlingame and Doug and Jenny Crow of Emporia.
