Firefighters from Americus, Emporia, Dunlap and Admire responded to a house fire reported about 5:20 p.m. Sunday at 521 Road 240, west of Americus.
Fire Chief Garland Hendrickson said that fire apparently started around a corn stove in the home. Fire damage was confined to a bedroom and the exterior of the house, though there was smoke and water damage throughout, he said.
The house is owned by Joshua Henning, who was not home at the time.
