Today

The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at JavaCat-5, 610 Merchant St. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.

Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.

Tuesday

The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Review Club meets at noon at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor for the Valentine luncheon with Dorris Barnett serving as hostess, assisted by Nina Gragg.

The Junto Study Club meets at 1 p.m. with Heather Higgins.

The Etude Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Patsy Cotté. Sally Conard and Jennifer Baldwin will present the program, “Wales Revisited.”

The Research Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Jan Miley. Carmen Hernandez will present the program.

The Trend Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Jacque James, who also will present the program.

The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m. after dinner at the Pizza Ranch. The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.

The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

Altrusa International of Emporia meets at 6 p.m. in the Regency Room of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Sandy Kramer will discuss “Fund Raising.”

Flint Hills Area Vietnam Veterans meets at 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 5, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

The Emporia Gardeners of America meet at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Paula Roper, owner of Paula’s Creations, will talk about “Cut Flower Arrangements.” Members will discuss Arbor and Earth days, plant sale activities and the final details for the Spring Exposition to be held Feb. 21 and 22 at the Anderson building.

Saturday

P.E.O. Chapter DI meets at 9 a.m. at the Emporia Country Club with hostess Kristi DeBauge, assisted by Marge Culver. The guest speaker will be Ginger Goering, Kansas State chapter president. The theme is “P.E.O.’s Newest Star.”

P.E.O. Chapter ES meets at 9:15 a.m. at the Emporia Country Club for the business meeting. Hostesses are members of the Activity Council.

P.E.O. Chapter GT meets at 9:30 a.m. at the Emporia Country Club for the business meeting. The Emporia P.E.O. Council activity, brunch and program will be at 10:15 a.m. Hostesses are Shirley Hurt, Sherry Heim and Melissa Windsor.

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal of the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
