Chase County
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the Board of Chase County Commissioners discussed the possible elimination of the railroad crossings on Norton Creek Road and T Road north of Bazaar during its Jan. 30 meeting. KDOT and BNSF Railways officials presented information to the board on the possible elimination of the crossings. The board took no action and wants to talk to landowners whose property would be impacted by the construction of a road to service any new crossing.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that Cliff Williams will be the new superintendent of the Burlington USD 244 schools effective July 1. Williams is the assistant superintendent in Clay County USD 379 in Clay Center. Clay Center is Williams’ hometown.

The Coffey County Republican reported that the Coffey County Airport is the recipient of a $273,693 grant to construct a taxiway parallel to the existing runway. The grant will be used to construct a new taxiway that will improve the efficiency and safety of the airport by reducing the need to back-taxi on active runways.
