Southern Coffey County’s girls scored a 44-43 win over Olpe on Thursday night at SCC, as the Titans held Kathryn Flott and Katie Moyer to 27 combined points.
SCC led 20-15 at halftime and 35-29 after three quarters. Moyer knocked down a 3-pointer with about 50 seconds remaining to give Olpe the lead, but the Titans scored with 17 seconds left. A mid-lane jumper from Kendyl McDougald on Olpe’s final possession rimmed out, giving SCC the victory.
“So we had some opportunities, but probably our best opportunities were early,” Olpe coach Jesse Nelson said. “And we just didn’t meet the intensity, I didn’t think, early in the game. We kind of played until we thought, ‘My gosh, we’re gonna have to play hard,’ and then it was too late.”
Flott scored 14 for Olpe, Moyer added 13 and McDougald had 10.
Laurie Ohl led the way for the Titans with 16 points, with 12 of them coming in the first half. Kaitlyn Meyer added 10 points, including eight after halftime.

Olpe coach Chris Schmidt was apprehensive about Thursday’s matchup, but the top-ranked Eagles continued their undefeated season with a 23-point win over SCC, led by Cole Krueger’s 21 points.
“I was a little nervous about that game,” Schmidt said. “It was playing at their place, and I knew they were gonna be all fired up, and especially after they beat our girls. But we came out and played really well. We had probably our best first quarter of the year, I’d say.”
Krueger scored 15 before halftime, which the Eagles reached with a 34-19 advantage. Matt Redeker was the Eagles’ top scorer after the half, putting up 11 to finish with 17 for the game. Bradley Argabright added 11 for Olpe.
Meyer and Chyler Ludolph each scored eight points for the Titans. Olpe faces the second of a back-to-back tonight as the Eagles host West Franklin.
