ESB Financial, 801 Merchant St., canceled more debit cards on Friday after another security breach at a card processing company.
The bank canceled about 1,000 cards last week because of a breach at the processing company Heartland Payment Systems. The bank itself does not use the company, but cards used at businesses that did use the company were canceled for safety reasons.
Jim Wayman, president of ESB Financial, said on Friday afternoon that about 300 more cards were canceled.
“We just got word this morning, is when we discovered it,” Wayman said.
Wayman said the bank was notified about the situation and is notifying those customers who will be affected.
“There’s lots of merchant processors out there that process cards for merchants, and this is another one of those,” Wayman said.
